The Cooks
Eleanor Cook, born in Northumberland, married George William Bentley on 11 October 1835 at St Olave, Hart St, London. There are a couple of possibilities for her; however, given that the surname Hood was passed on as a middle name in the Bentley family, and that she called her daughter Elizabeth, I have identified the most likely candidate. Her birth year does not agree with the age she gave on censuses; however, it is possible that she was unclear about her age, or did not wish to admit that she was older than her husband.
William Cook married Elizabeth Hood at Christ Church Tynemouth, Northumberland, on 24 January 1804. They had four known children: Eleanor, b 4 Sep bap 25 Dec 1805; Rosamond, b 3 May, bap 27 May 1807; William, b 18 Dec 1809 bap 10 Jan 1810; and Elizabeth, b 14 Nov bap 11 Dec 1811. These baptisms took place at Christ Church Tynemouth.
Elizabeth Hood is given as being a native of All Saints parish (Newcastle?) She was probably bap. there 15 Apr 1781, father John Hood.
William Cook is given as being a mariner, native of Lowestoft, Suffolk. He was probably bap there 18 May 1778, the son of Henry Cook and Rosamond. There is a marriage between Henry Cook and Rose Pawsey at St James, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, on 8 October 1776. Rose Pawsey was bap abt 1755 at St James, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, and Henry Cook abt 1751 at Stoke Holy Cross, Norfolk.
